Westland is a 100 per cent independent dairy farmer-owned cooperative. We specialise in the sourcing and processing of more than 500 million litres of quality milk annually, producing a range of dairy ingredients and finished products including butter, milk powders, caseinates and milk protein to more than 50 countries worldwide.

More than 330 farmer shareholders from Karamea to Fox Glacier

Our more than 330 farmer shareholders are in an enviable position with access to some of the most nutrient rich and fertile pastures that New Zealand has to offer. Our milk collection catchment area spans 440 kilometres from Karamea in the North to Fox Glacier in the South. The unique West Cost landscape enables our dairy farmers to pasture-feed year round creating high end quality milk with certainty of milk supply.

Our factory, people and products

Our state of the art processing plant and research facility based in Hokitika on the West Coast of the South Island is one of the region’s largest employers. The loyalty, dedication, passion and drive of Westland staff are a critical success factor for our organisation. Our employees are recognised by our customers, suppliers, stakeholders and our community as being integral to the business and wider economy. 

EasiYo Products, our fully owned subsidiary and global yogurt manufacturer, gives Westland access to and understanding of the global food retail market. 

Investment in a new concentration plant at Christchurch is planned for the 2011/2012 season. Ongoing investment in key areas such as the manufacture of nutritional products is an important part of our strategic planning.

We believe these, and other planned initiatives will solidify Westland’s position as a global leader in the processing of innovative and high quality milk product now, and for decades to come.
