Lactoferrin

Lactoferrin occurs at high levels in human breast milk. Lactoferrin has a diverse range of biological functions, some of which are based upon its ability to bind to iron. Lactoferrin helps to regulate iron metabolism and has antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and antiparasitic activity. Lactoferrin has been shown to be able to modulate the immune response.

Applications for lactoferrin include nutraceutical products including tablets and capsules, products to support the immune and gastro-intestinal systems, oral health care products, sports nutrition formulations and supplements, topical treatments in wound dressing, skincare and gut health.
