Start-Up Scholarship

Westland Milk Products also recognises the value in continuing education beyond school and developing a skilled and trained community workforce while at the same time preparing young people to be able to provide a positive contribution to society. To this end Westland Milk Products wishes to ‘Start-Up’  this process by providing a one off payment that is intended to assist in removing barriers from participation and encouraging young people to get involved in some form of tertiary learning and development.  

These funds are intended to encourage young people in these regions to recognise the value of ‘learning for life’ and ‘lifelong learning’ and who are wishing to continue their learning and development beyond school.

To be eligible scholarship applicants will need to be New Zealand citizens or residents, can demonstrate a link to Westland Milk Products West Coast and Canterbury(Selwyn District) milk supply regions and meet certain established criteria as outlined below.

The applicant must be either enrolled or intending to enrol in a recognised tertiary learning programme. Applicants will also need to complete an application form that will indicate under which of the following categories they wish to apply:

·      Personal circumstances – e.g. financial, distance, hardship.

·      Academic / vocational – special interest or ability

·      Leadership/ personal development – e.g. Individual abilities or skills

·      Dairy Industry Related – On farm training through AgITO, Dairy NZ, etc

They will also need to indicate their relationship to Westland Milk Products’ milk supply regions.
