The next series of iconic food show The Great British Bake Off will have a genuine Kiwi touch: Westland Milk Products’ Westgold butter will feature as the show’s New Zealand screening sponsor.
The deal means thousands of avid Kiwi fans of the show will see Westgold butter featured in pre-show promotions, within advertising intervals, and in post screening information, for the for the New Zealand screening of the show only. The Great British Bake Off will screen on PRIME TV, Tuesday nights at 7.30pm from March 13, and its behind the scenes spin-off, The Great British Bake Off, An Extra Slice, will screen on Sundays at 6pm.
The show follows a group of passionate amateur bakers competing against each other to be crowned the UK’s best amateur baker. It is one of the most popular food programmes in the UK with a huge cult following among fans. It also scores very highly with Kiwi viewers.
“While our butter will not feature in the show itself (it has already been filmed), our sponsorship deal for the New Zealand screening will support significant growth in brand awareness for Westgold and help us tell the story of the brand and its rich West Coast heritage,” says Westland’s General Manager Marketing and Innovation Hamish Yates.
“We’re taking advantage of the fact that The Great British Bake Off fans love to talk about the recipes and their favourites among the competitors to build an on-line following for Kiwi viewers of the show,” Yates added. “Our Westgold Great Bakers Facebook community (facebook.com/westgoldnz) will feature recipes and discussion during and between the episodes.”
