Press Releases Westland appoints an interim managing director
Westland Milk Products, New Zealand’s second biggest dairy co-operative, has announced that it is appointing an interim managing director while it seeks a replacement for its current Chief Executive Rod Quin, whose resignation takes effect from 1 August.
Chairman Matt O’Regan says that the process to recruit a new CEO will not be complete before Quin’s final day on 31 July. Therefore the board has agreed to establish an interim management position to ensure effective management continuity until the new CEO starts work.
“The board has agreed to appoint Brent Taylor, currently an Independent Director, as an interim Managing Director. Brent’s skills will ensure there is continuity of our business strategy and ensures that any potential disruption between CEO’s is kept to an absolute minimum. Effective immediately, Brent will work alongside Rod to ensure a smooth transition of management responsibilities and activities.”
O’Regan says that finding a new CEO for a company the size of Westland, and with such an important international profile, should not be rushed and Westland was advertising globally.
“This takes a bit of time but the board is confident that Brent’s role as an interim managing director will ensure that Westland’s business strategies will continue without disruption.”
Brent Taylor was elected to the Westland Milk Products board as an independent director in 2014. He has more than 40 years’ experience in the New Zealand Dairy Industry with a wide range of employers, including the NZ Cooperative Dairy Company, East Tamaki Dairy Cooperative, the NZ Dairy Board and Fonterra. He has held various roles within these companies including operations management, country manager, and Chief Executive Officer.
Since retiring from Fonterra in 2013, Mr. Taylor has concentrated on building a professional director portfolio, providing consultancy services and involvement in private equity investment in New Zealand-based industrial companies.
